Supply chain and logistics companies that adopted IoT tech like RAIN RFID have seen the powerful benefits of complete, real-time visibility into their operations. These capabilities are no longer seen as novel and bleeding-edge — they are table stakes that are vital for running an effective and efficient business.

That’s according to a new report, “How IoT and RFID Are Transforming the Supply Chain Industry,” from Supply Chain Dive and Impinj. Among the supply chain professionals from a variety of industries who were surveyed:

• 83% have already adopted or are currently implementing IoT systems
• 58% have already adopted or are currently implementing RAIN RFID, with 22% more considering it
• 60% said primary adoption drivers were operational efficiency or speed and agility; competitive differentiation ranked at the bottom
• 87% have identified a business case for IoT or RFID, but many face internal organizational barriers to adoption
